Artist Statement
I’m a fine artist based in southern California. I mostly work in the tradition of realism with oil, while experimenting with watercolor and other multi media compositions. Surface quality is something I spend quality time perfecting before moving into the painting. I try to keep my work loose and expressive, it keeps painting fun and exciting. I have always been a painter. My family made sure of that; my dad and grandma filled our home with their works that simply amazed little me. Growing up I often found myself trying to replicate my dad’s impressionistic ocean scapes. This is where my love for landscape painting began. While in school my work was largely based on observation.Everything from painting the figure to a metal can, constantly working from life had an important impact on my work. I love how painting lets us turn something so simple into something so grand. Having the ability to record my life through paint is everything for me. I want to build a world that reaches beyond what I thought was possible.
BioIsabella Staub was born in Los Angeles, California, in 2003. She’s an oil painter and mixed media artist largely based in realism.
